Article by Alex Christie

Peace no war, no game created in 2007 as a memorial to 10~05~1307.T he day King Robert the Bruce brought the Peace of his Reign to Galston.

Placed on the Heart of Galston at Cross Street. Probably the same spot where Robert Burns stood when he visited Galston also on his way further on towards Loudoun Hill.

Mandala is sanskrit for circle.Peace no war,no game sits on a 21cm circular mirror. Without rank or file the pieces follow the outine facing inwards to the Peace Candle, Dove and Emerald Heart.

21 is the date each September. World Peace Day.

32 pieces the same number as Chess. Peace no war, no game is not about conflict or win/lose.

The pieces can be arranged in any arrangement. There is no right/wrong or rules.

31 of the pieces can be purchased in Galston. The mirror and Emerald Heart were bought in Kilmarnock.

Alex Christie says

The reasons for putting the date as follows:- 10-^-10-^-10-^-10-^-10-^-2007,are,no date is given for the invention of Chess and I think the repetition is similar to a Heartbeat. Peace no war,no game is invented to the second. The 'mandala' is also a prayer for Peace.

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
