29/5/2009East Ayrshire Council will bid for cash to improve Galston's town centre
East Ayrshire Council are bidding for cash from the Scottish government's £60 million town centre regeneration fund. Members of the council cabinet have endorsed applications totalling over £1.7 million for improvements to the centres of Kilmarnock, Cumnock and Galston.
The Galston scheme has a total cost of £500,000 and will cover the acquisition and demolition of a derelict site at Cross Street and Bridge Street, the improvement of car parking and landscaping to reduce the impact of flood defences.
The deadline for applications for the first £40 million of the new government fund is June 5, with the successful bidders expected to be announced around the end of July.
