Galston makes top 10 list of UK's uninsured driver hotspots
16 FebruaryGalston drivers are amongst the growing number of people driving without insurance, moneysupermarket.com has warned.
The price comparison website has compiled a top 10 hotspots list for the uninsured drivers who are responsible for bumping up the cost of the average car insurance policy by £30, to provide for their accident victims, Insurance Daily reports.
The firm has analysed almost three million car insurance quotes over a 12 months period to establish clusters of IN10 convictions - the offence code for driving without insurance.
The league table is as follows:
1. Sanquhar, Dumfriesshire where 28.42% of searches had IN10 convictions;
2. HebdenBridge, West Yorkshire 24.88%;
3. Glasgow 20.43%;
4. Manchester 17.42;
5. Galston, Ayrshire 15.79%;
6. Hackney, London 14.39%;
7. Nechells, Birmingham 14.29%;
8. Dunstable, Bedfordshire 12.84%;
9. Leominster 12.45%;
10. Notting Hill, London 12.37%.
According to the Motor Insurers' Bureau there are currently around 1.7 million drivers on UK roads without cover.
