Inquiry hears of Galston lawyer's death fall in mine shaft
2 MarchFirefighters spent nearly six hours trying to save Alison Hume, 44, before she was pulled out by mountain rescue volunteers using similar equipment. She fell about 40ft into the hole close to the Barrwood Gate housing development.
Ms Hume, a solicitor and mother of two teenage daughters, was airlifted to hospital but died after the tragedy near her home in Galston in July 2008.
