Spring Read inspires budding young writers at Loudoun Academy
10 MarchShe spoke of her own experiences and chance encounters which triggered her imagination, inspiring her pacy and topical best-selling books. Cathy, from Greenock, clearly fascinated the youngsters and encouraged them to think about their own ideas for stories and how to write them.
Cathy's visit to Loudoun Academy was part of this year's Spring Read Festival which is organised by school librarians and Live Literature Scotland, to give pupils the opportunity to meet working authors.
Other award-winning authors visiting local schools as part of Spring Read are Theresa Breslin, Catherine Forde, Keith Gray and JA Henderson.
Schools are running events celebrating reading and writing throughout March. These include quiz heats for the Readers' Cup, 'Book Oscars', book swaps, book fairs, displays and contests.
